The Arts Center in Hendersonville, NC, Presents Sculpture Competition

The Perry Rudnick Urban Trail Sculpture Competition is the current exhibit at The Arts Center, in downtown Hendersonville, NC. It remains on view through Oct. 30, 2004.

The Perry Rudnick Foundation challenged the Arts Center to hold this sculpture competition and the Foundation funded the $9000 commission to pay for the winning sculpture. There are two major criteria: it has to reflect the history of Henderson County and it must fit in a space in close proximity to The Arts Center. It can be in any artistic form but must be able to be installed outside in a permanent location.

Artists responded with renderings of the proposed sculpture and a narrative defining how the work meets the design criteria. The work was judged by a panel of five judges. All the entrants' work is on display at The Arts Center.

The Arts Center is a non-profit gallery and education center dedicated to bringing the arts to a diverse audience in Western North Carolina.
