Historic Bluffton Arts & Seafood Festival is Scheduled for Oct. 29

The mission of the Historic Bluffton Arts & Seafood Festival is to help further a sense of community, provide benefit to the citizens, the local area merchants and artist, through tourism. The citizens of the Town of Bluffton, SC, have expressed the protection and quality of the May River and the Bluffton Oyster Factory as instrumental to our community. As Bluffton continues to grow it is paramount that we continue to introduce our citizens, old and new, to these precious Bluffton gems. Festivals are magnets that bring young and old, rich and poor together to celebrate their community.

The proposed schedule of events include: an arts and crafts show, kayak race, 5K run, nature lectures, art and food vendors, children's events, boat rides, dinner and music at the Oyster Factory and fireworks at dusk.

The invitational arts and crafts portion to be held on Calhoun Street (which will be blocked off) opens at 10am and closes at 4pm. A fine variety of artists and craftspeople from South Carolina and Georgia will be on hand displaying, demonstrating and selling their wares. Local restaurant and beverage booths offering May River delights, will also be set up along Calhoun Street. Free shuttles will run from parking lots to Calhoun Street.

A partial list of artists that will be exhibiting their specialties include: Brian Attaway (clay), Laura Adams (collage and mixed-media), Christina Bates (etching and oil paintings), Daniel Bonnell (tiles), Emerson Colby (woodturning & demo), Dawn Duff (mosaics, mixed-media & demo), Maris Effert (glass jewelry), Angela Erdy (jewelry), Kayee Esser (oils & acrylics), Sue McFarland (textile, basketry & demo), Bill McFarland (jewelry), Pat Gardiner (porcelain & demo), Lilian Heyward (paintings), Stephen Kishel (metal sculpture), David Knowlton (watermedia), Carrol Kay (textiles), Kevin Lawless (iron work), Irene Mayo (paintings), Debbie Mueller (claywork), Mark Minus (furniture), Emmett and Teddy McCracken (prints and furnishings), and Terry Waldron (dolls and paintings). Members of the Society of Bluffton Artists and other arts organizations will also be there.
