ArtStock 2006 in Greensboro, NC, Presents 9th Annual Artist Studio Tour - Oct. 14 & 15, 2006

ArtStock will celebrate its 9th annual Artist Studio Tour throughout the greater Greensboro, NC, area the weekend of Oct. 14 & 15, 2006. Artists will be available and their studios will be open to the public throughout the weekend on Sat., from 10am-5pm and Sun., from 1-5pm. The tour is free and open to the public - look for the signature red balloons at each location! This event is unique and special to this area - patrons and collectors will find great works and items they might not find in any gallery or other public venue or that might not have been shown in public before! Here is their chance to pick up that one of a kind work before anyone else!

With over 80 individual artists participating at over 30 sites, come and experience their diverse talents! The participating artists will be displaying their work in their own studios as well as in group and gallery locations. You can expect to see works in oil, watercolor, metal, pastel, mixed media, pottery and wood. The Greensboro community is uniquely fortunate that we have so many talented, practicing artists available to the public for view and purchase. This annual studio tour has been copied and envied for many years by other localities!

ArtStock collectively represents individual visual artists in the Greensboro area by presenting an annual autumn studio tour, in which local artists' studios are open for public viewing. By promoting the distinctive talent of each artist, we in turn underline the creativity within our broader community.

ArtStock maps with artists' names and locations will be available at the Marshall Gallery and TwoArtChicks; maps will also be available at all participating locations during the ArtStock weekend and published in GoTriad! on Oct. 12, 2006. Come and purchase or just enjoy looking! Remember an original artwork enlivens our lives more than any other present given.

ArtStock developed from the Artist's Support System Established Synergy, started by a small group of local artists in 1996 to provide support, share ideas and concerns. The first Artist Studio Tour took place in Oct. 1998. For the 3rd year, Summerfield, NC, sculpture artist Carolyn Owen is Operations Manager. The group meets regularly to plan this area-wide event which takes place annually in mid-October.

Local visual artists who are interested in participating in future ArtStock weekends should contact Operations Manager Carolyn Owen at 336/643-6428 or Treasurer Bob Dudash at 336/855-3460. There is a $25 fee to participate, which helps support the advertising and marketing efforts of the tour.

For more information about the annual artist studio tour, call Carolyn Owen at 336/643-6428 or visit (www.artstocktour.com).
