Charleston Fine Art Dealers' Association in Charleston, SC, Presents Eigth Fine Art Annual - Nov. 3-5, 2006

Art aficionados from across the United States will flock to Charleston, SC, in celebration of the Charleston Fine Art Dealers' Association's (CFADA) Eighth Fine Art Annual. The event kicks off Nov. 3 and runs through Nov. 5, 2006, with activities for art enthusiasts and collectors. Proceeds from this event benefit Charleston County High Schools' Visual Arts Programs.

The weekend will feature more than 40 nationally renowned artists, whose works are showcased exclusively in the CFADA member galleries in historic downtown Charleston. They include: Marty Whaley Adams, Gordon Allen, Scott Burdick, Joan Burmeister, John Crosby, Craig Crawford, Julyan Davis, Gil Dellinger, John Carroll Doyle, Ted Ellis, Trey Finney, West Fraser, Gary Gowans, Gary Grier, Karen Hewitt Hagan, Johnson Hagood, March Hanson, Jill Hooper, Bernie Horton, Nancy Hoerter, Mark Kelvin Horton, Philip Juras, Kevin LePrince, Ben Long, Kate Long, Susan Lyon, Gloria Mani, Susan Mayfield, Tom McNickle, Billyo O'Donnell, Anna Onuffer, Margaret Peery, Margaret Petterson, Guido Petruzzi, Citor Richardson, Lynne Riding, Betty Robinson, Jennifer Smith Rogers, Betty Anglin Smith, Shannon Smith, Jennifer Spencer, Sue Stewart, Frank Strazulla, Rhett Thurman, Aleksander Titovets, Lyuba Titovets, Karen Larson Turner and Mary Whyte.

"Charleston is now one of the nation's top arts destinations," says CFADA President Joe Sylvan, "The Charleston Fine Art Dealers Association's Fine Art Annual is a showcase of the city's visual arts world, featuring a spectrum of arts by some of the nation's most prominent artists."

Sponsored in part by Art & Antiques Magazine and Charleston Magazine, the weekend begins with receptions at each of the CFADA galleries, featuring the newest works of the weekend's artists. The event takes place in the city's gallery district and begins at 5:30pm.

Ranked as one of the favorite events of the weekend, the Plein Air Painting demonstrations in Washington Park draws hundreds of people each year. With scrumptious breakfast delights provided by Whole Foods Market, enthusiasts can roam through the park, and observe the weekend's featured artists in their artistic modes, creating exquisite paintings for the evening's Gala & Silent Auction. Plein Air Painting in Washington Park runs from 9am-noon on Sat., Nov. 4, 2006.

On Saturday evening, artists, art collectors and enthusiasts, will don in cocktail attire, to enjoy an evening of fine food, cocktails and art for an important cause at the Harbour Club -raising funds for much needed Charleston County High School Art Programs. The Gala Event & Silent Auction will feature paintings from the morning's painting in the park. Funds raised at the event will go towards much needed art supplies to nine of the area high schools, including, Burke High School, James Island Charter High School, North Charleston High School, R.B. Stall High School, School of the Arts, Septima P. Clark Academy, St. John's High School, Wando High School and West Ashley High School. The gala event begins at 6pm. Reservations are required. Cost is $70 per person or $125 per couple.

And, finally, on Sun., Nov. 5, 2006, the weekend concludes with a special Art Collectors' Brunch at Slightly North of Broad (SNOB), one of Charleston's finest restaurants. In celebration of the Fine Art Annual, Chef Frank Lee will prepare a special brunch exclusively for the morning. Attendees will enjoy an exquisite meal, as well as an interactive discussion with a select panel of artists, art directors and collectors. Seating is limited. Reservations required. Cost is $35 per person.

Guests of the weekend will receive an official program for the weekend, which includes details on the weekend's events, individual galleries, featured artists and much more. For attendees traveling to Charleston, the Francis Marion Hotel, one of the city's grandest hotels, will include tickets to the individual events in its Art Lovers' Package, as well as other amenities, including wine & cheese, two tickets to the Gibbes Museum of Art, as well as a self-guided gallery walking tour. Founded in 1999, the Charleston Fine Art Dealers' Association consists of the city's most prominent galleries.
