WICKWIRE fine art/folk art in Hendersonville, NC, Features Annual Juried Exhibition

WICKWIRE fine art/folk art in Hendersonville, NC, is proud to present the Seventh Annual City of Four Seasons in Two Dimensions - Seasonal Splendor, a juried exhibition and sale of two dimensional art depicting the four seasons of Henderson County. The exhibit opens on Oct. 6 and continues through Nov. 5, 2006. Special recognition will be given to the Hendersonville Magazine's twenty-fifth year of publication and to its publisher Joanie Fischer, founder of the City of Four Seasons in Two Dimensions event.

Awards will total $2,000 with a special $1000 Best of Show Award presented by Joanie Fischer, publisher of Hendersonville Magazine. Ann Vasilik, award winning artist and popular workshop instructor, will judge the competition. Vasilik received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Philadelphia College of Art and has served on the Board of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina as the Western Director. A native of Lancaster County, PA, Vasilik has lived in Asheville, NC, since 1988. She has taught and painted extensively throughout the Southeast and in California, Hawaii and the Republic of the Philippines. Her commissioned works are in great demand and reproductions from her original paintings have gone all over the world. Locally, her art has supported numerous charities.

Participating artists of the City of Four Seasons in Two Dimensions competition and exhibition will depict the four seasons of Henderson County. Artists' works may include oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, ink or mixed media. All works are original and reveal the artists' perspectives - their views and visions of our Henderson County four seasons. "The event creates an opportunity for the community to reflect on the visual arts and enjoy various interpretations of our distinctive seasons which are so much a part of our Western North Carolina environment," says gallery owner Shirley Palmer-Hill. "Good composition and design, effective use of color and textures centered on our 2006 Seasonal Splendor theme will be recognized. The exhibition will remind us of what brought us to this area and causes us to stay. Our seasons are unique with beautiful transitional changes and they all happen around us in this quaint yet cosmopolitan community nestled in the Blue Ridge of North Carolina."
