Ann Long Fine Art in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Leo Mancini-Hresko

Ann Long Fine Art in Charleston, SC, features an exhibit of works by Leo Mancini-Hresko, on view from Oct. 18 - 31, 2007.

With a background in Old-Master techniques from the Florence Academy of Art, the American-born artist is earning significant attention for his exceptional oil paintings, leading to his first one-man exhibition. The gallery will feature stills lifes and figures painted in his "Studio Bandiera" in Florence and landscapes inspired by the Tuscan countryside.

Mancini-Hresko is able to imbue his work with individuality and a sense of atmosphere by painting the space between objects rather than just the objects themselves but remains committed to the process: from making the paint or canvas, to a sketch done quickly, to building and layering glazes and impastos.  "Quality of light has always attracted me, whether over a dusky bottle in the studio or the morning haze and humidity in a landscape. Trying to paint the almost unperceivable opacity of air. I'd like to think I've found an interesting way of observing and translating to canvas the way I see the world," says Mancini-Hresko of his painterly aims.

Mancini-Hresko currently directs the Florence Academy of Art's Drawing in Sculpture program.
