Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features works by Veronica Clark

New works by Charlotte artist, Veronica Clark will be featured in a one woman show at Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC. The exhibit will be on view from Oct. 12 - 31, 2007.

Clark was born in rural Sussex, England, living there until 1966 when she moved with her family to the Cùte díAzur in France. She studied in London, Paris and Florence, learning French and Italian and nurturing a passion for art by spending many hours in galleries and museums. Since 1981, Clark has resided in various parts of the Carolinas.

Clark's training has included time spent at the American Academy of Equine Art in Lexington, KY, studying under Lesley Humphrey and Elin Pendleton. She has also attended workshops with Ben Long, Kate Worm, George Strickland, Scott Burdick, and Steve Early from the Nelson Shanks Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia. Clark has exhibited and won awards in local and regional shows and was awarded an honorable mention in the Pastel Journal Best Art in 2005. She has been accepted into the American Academy of Equine Art, and has been chosen as the official artist for the upcoming Queen's Cup Steeplechase in Charlotte.

Using primarily oils, pastels and charcoals, Clark derives inspiration from the many dogs, horses, cats, chickens, cows and geese that call the farm home. In addition to figure drawing and animal portraiture, she also paints pastoral scenes, including those experienced on her travels. She works "plein-air" as much as possible to capture the rich colors of nature and the expressive characters of the animals. Clark's studio overlooks the fields and woods of her family farm, providing an ideal setting for her work.

Shain Gallery, located in the heart of Myers Park in Charlotte, NC, has been on the forefront of the Charlotte art scene, since opening their doors in 1998. The gallery represents many regional and national artists.
