The Art League of Henderson County in Hendersonville, NC, Features Works by Eula LaCroix

The Art League of Henderson County in Hendersonville, NC, will present an exhibit of paintings by Eula LaCroix, on view at the Opportunity House from Oct. 5 - 31, 2008.

Although LaCroix worked exclusively in pastels for many years, she has recently returned to working in oils as well. Her impressionistic landscapes are an expression of the artist's love of the beauty and drama of nature and her desire to share that with others.  She feels that she was greatly influenced by growing up in the beautiful Bluegrass section of Kentucky and now finds a never-ending source of inspiration in the Western North Carolina mountains and Upstate South Carolina.

LaCroix states, "I work from an emotional response to my subject, hoping that feeling will carry through to the viewer. I'm inspired by the way light plays across the surface of objects altering the color, shape and volume."

A native of Kentucky, the LaCroix has lived in the Carolinas since 1976. Although she studied art at Nazareth College in Kentucky and at the Cincinnati Art Academy,  she is mainly self-taught and specializes in landscape painting. She has taught classes for the Jefferson Co. Parks and Recreation (KY),  Jefferson Co. Schools (KY), the Spartanburg Art Museum and in her own studio.

In 1976, LaCroix founded and helped organize the Palette Club of Louisville to benefit both professional and amateur artists in Jefferson County, Kentucky. More recently, she was one of the original organizers of ArtVenture, a painting group in Hendersonville, NC, affiliated with the Art League of Henderson County.

LaCroix is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, Founder and Lifetime Member of The Palette Club of Louisville, KY,  member of Art League of Henderson County, and the Artists' Guild of Spartanburg, SC. She has participated in numerous exhibits and won numerous awards. LaCroix also has been included in numerous collections including Spartanburg Art Museum and many corporations. Many private collections of her paintings are in US, Belgium, and Germany.
