Tryon Fine Arts Center in Tryon, NC, Features Works by Suzanne Doyle

Tryon Fine Arts Center in Tryon, NC, will present an exhibit hosted by Tryon Painters and Sculptors (TPS) entitled, 25 Years of Artistic Expression, featuring works by Suzanne Doyle, on view from Oct. 10 through Nov. 8, 2008 in Gallery I.

Doyle began her studies at the Art Institute of Southern California in 1984 and in 1985 continued at the Corcoran College of Art in Washington, DC, until 1987. She studied all types of styles, subjects and theories, yet describes her work as primarily classical. Her work found further classical influenced as she continued her art education at the international art school, SACI in Florence, Italy, where she studied the following year.

Since then, Doyle has shown work around the world including in South Africa, Brazil, Italy and throughout the US. Most recently, she has displayed a historical series for Holocaust symposiums at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. The historical series will also be displayed at conferences and museums for future Holocaust educational events.

Doyle has painted throughout the last 25 year a variety of subjects including people, animals, still life and landscapes. Yet, she confesses that even as a young student, she favors portraits and, in particularly, she enjoys portraits in pastels.

The exhibition is a compilation of Doyle's many subjects, including portraits, part of her historical series on the Holocaust, Italian landscapes and some still life that she is recognized locally for. The show's work is in oil with the exception of two pastels.
