Caldwell Arts Council in Lenoir, NC, Features Annual Competition

Caldwell Arts Council in Lenoir, NC, will present the 33rd Annual Caldwell Visual Artists Competition, on view from Oct. 2 - 30, 2009.

Recognizing Caldwell County artists whose medium includes 2 and 3-dimensional art, the Caldwell Arts Council invites the public to enjoy an exciting show by our local artists. The show, always a favorite among Gallery attendees, will include a wide variety of styles and media. Some of the artwork will be available for purchase.

This year's judge is Jerry Jackson, Deputy Director of Penland School of Crafts. Jackson holds MFA and BFA degrees in ceramics from East Carolina University, and AA degree from Wingate University. He has spent the majority of his arts career as a curator and arts administrator. Prior to relocating to Penland, he served 11 years as curator and cultural arts administrator at the Rocky Mount Arts Center. Jackson is an active artist working in found-object assemblage. He has participated in over 100 group and solo exhibitions throughout the southeastern US, Finland, Germany and Estonia.
