Over 20 artists from North Carolina and surrounding states will be on site selling their work. These artists include: Joe Lafone, Tammy Leigh Brooks, Sarah Rakes, Mike Essinger, Wanda Clark, Robert Eades, Harold Crowell, Brooks Yeomans, Patty Fenick, Steve Brooks, Michael Ball, Ray Searcy, Jeff Young, Gary Mitchell, Theresa Gloster, Barbara Miller, Kessiah Meroney, Arie Taylor, Paul and Debbie Helton, Clay James, Laura McNellis, Sarah Britt, Moni Hill, David Protheroe and Bruce Ball.

"For the past 4 years, HMA has sponsored a folk art themed festival outside the Arts and Science Center," says the museum's Executive Director Lisë Swensson. "This year we have decided to create an off-site folk art event in Sherrills Ford on the land of Darwin and Myra Smith."

"The Smith's home and adjacent 3 acre lot form a picturesque compound on Lake Norman. The event will continue to focus on Southern contemporary folk artists, while also including creators of traditional folk craft like pottery, as well as folk music."

HMA invites you to take the short drive to Sherrills Ford to spend the day. Potter Pat Flachbart will be giving demonstrations in the morning at the Sherrills Ford Friends of the Library Fall Festival and Plant Sale from 8:30am until 1:30pm. Afterwards, she will be at Folk Art Festival at the Lake for demonstrations.

Folk Art Festival at the Lake is sponsored by Duke Energy and is a great opportunity for families to enjoy a Saturday of art, music, food and the scenery of Lake Norman!
