City of North Charleston Features Works by Members of the South Carolina Watermedia Society

City of North Charleston will present the SC Watermedia Society’s 34th Annual Juried Traveling Exhibition, featuring the top 30 winning works by some of South Carolina’s best artists, on view from Oct. 3 - 31, 2011, at the North Charleston City Gallery located in the Charleston Area Convention Center in North Charleston, SC.

The South Carolina Watermedia Society is the only statewide visual arts organization in South Carolina to promote artists who work in watermedia, which includes watercolor, acrylic, gouache, and casein among others. Their annual juried exhibition, which has been presented since 1977, offers both new and established artists from around the state the opportunity to compete for prize money and to have their work exhibited in a variety of venues under the supervision of the South Carolina State Museum’s Traveling Exhibitions Program. A number of the works on view will be available for purchase. The show is accompanied by a DVD containing commentary from the juror, a portfolio of artists’ resumes, and colorful exhibit brochures.

As the state’s largest visual arts guild, the South Carolina Watermedia Society provides exhibition opportunities, professional development, and educational programs. For more information about the group, visit (www.scwatermedia.com).
