New Bern ArtWorks in New Bern, NC, Features Works in Colored Pencil

New Bern ArtWorks Fine Art Gallery in New Bern, NC, will present Explosion of Color, an exhibit of colored pencil paintings by The Colored Pencil Society of America, North Carolina District Chapter 114. The exhibit will be on view from Oct. 4 - 31, 2013.

Colored pencil is a relatively new fine art medium, when compared with oils, watercolors, etc. The Colored Pencil Society of America has increased the popularity of the medium many times over. The Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA) was founded in 1990 as a nonprofit organization for colored pencil enthusiasts working to promote colored pencils as a fine art medium by sponsoring exhibitions and workshops, being involved in product research, and educating the public in general.

CPSA has about 1600 members worldwide and over 25 District Chapters in the US. Each District Chapter is a self-governing group of CPSA members that operate to promote colored pencil within its own area. By promoting camaraderie and education locally, the chapters provide additional opportunities for their members and help CPSA by attracting new members. CPSA members are free to join one or more of almost 30 District Chapters around the country.

North Carolina CPSA District Chapter 114 is located in the Raleigh/Durham area and represents artist in North and South Carolina. For further info visit (www.cpsadc114.org).
