Odyssey Gallery in Asheville, NC, Features Exhibition of Animals in Ceramics

Rare birds, ancient crocodiles, turquoise cows and raku wolves will be featured in an exhibition entitled, Bestiary, showing at the Odyssey Gallery in Asheville, NC, from Jan. 13 through Feb. 28, 2003. All of these and many more will be featured in a collection of ceramic animals and animal imagery in clay. Twenty-two contemporary ceramic artists from across the nation will explore narrative, symbolic and figurative aspects of the animal form in this modern bestiary. Both functional and sculptural artwork will be featured.

Participating artists include: Shay Amber (Asheville, NC), Gina Bowbrowski (Corrales, NM), Joe Bova (Guysville, OH), Jim Brashear (Fairbanks, AK), Elaine Coleman (Henderson, NC), Michael Corney (Albuquerque, NM), Bernadette Curran (Baltimore, MD), Becca Floyd (Mars Hill, NC), Carol Gentithes (Seagrove, NC), Rebecca Harvey (Columbus, OH), Julie Johnson (Carbondale, CO), Fred Johnson (Seagrove, NC), Jenny Lind (Santa Fe, NM), Nathalie MacDonald (Scituate, MA), Jenny Mendes (Chesterfield, OH), Ron Meyers (Athens, GA), Chris Moses (Weaverville, NC), Peter Rose (Knoxville, TN), Ken Sedberry (Bakersville, NC), Michael Simon (Colbert, GA), Robin VanValkenburgh (Asheville, NC), and Dina Wilde-Ramsing (Morehead City, NC).
