Beaufort Art Association in Beaufort, SC, Features Works by Lissa Addington

The Beaufort Art Association in Beaufort, SC, will present the exhibit, Lissa-Her Life in Photography, featuring works by Lissa Addington, on view in the BAA Gallery from Jan. 8 through Feb. 16, 2008.

The exhibit is a benefit celebration of the life and art of Lissa Addington, a fine artist and dear friend to many, who succumbed to cancer in June after a long and trying battle. By her husband's bequeath, 70 per cent of the proceeds from sales will go to the BAA.

Addington grew up in an artistic family and led a full life in the arts. David, her husband and fellow photographer, earned graduate degrees in Theater. She later ran a successful professional photography studio in Bowling Green, OH, for 8 years before moving to Georgia. When the Addingtons retired to Fripp Island, they fully indulged their passion and expertise in art photography.

Addington also volunteered and served as board member for many organizations including the BAA, the Friends of Fripp Island Music and Friends of Caroline Hospice. Her favorite photographic subjects were animals, and her sense of humor and whimsy shines through her images. Some of her more recent images were taken on a cruise where she was able to view, pet and photograph Grey Whales up close and personal.
