Carolina Fine Paintings & Prints in Charleston, SC, Opens Second Location & Expands Artist Roster

"This is always an exciting time of year for us at Carolina Fine Paintings & Prints and for the arts in Charleston," said Johnson Hagood, one of the owners of the business. "This excitement is tempered by the terrorist attacks on our nation, but we also know that the criminals who perpetrated these attacks and the people behind them will be brought to justice, as President Bush said, 'at a time and place of our own choosing'. We cannot let these people dampen the American way of life and our enthusiasm for it. We at Carolina Fine Paintings & Prints are pleased to announce the opening of a second location at 91 Church Street, at the Porgy & Bess building, for the sale of antique prints." The new print gallery is located between the Verner Gallery and The Charleston Renaissance Gallery on Church Street, just south of Broad Street in historic downtown Charleston, SC.

Johnson also adds, "This move gives us more room at our main location at 188 King Street to showcase our expanding group of contemporary artists and our continuous selections of art from the Charleston Renaissance. The gallery has added several new artists to its group that previously included Stephen Chesley, Craig Crawford, Johnson Hagood, Anna Onufer, and Margaret Peery. New artists whose works will be represented at the gallery include Don Stone, N.A., Sander Gibson, Tony Griffin, Betty Robinson, David Stewart, and Thomas Sully.

Carolina Fine Paintings & Prints will present an exhibition entitled, New Works by Contemporary Artists, on view from Nov. 2 - 30, as part of the 3rd Annual Charleston Fine Arts Annual, hosted by the Charleston Fine Art Dealers' Association on Nov. 2-4.

Don Stone and Sander Gibson will be participating in the 2nd annual Plein-Air Painting Demonstration held at Washington Park, Nov. 3, from 9:45 to 11:30am, as part of the events for the Charleston Fine Arts Annual. Works created during the Plein-Air Painting Demonstration will be offered for sale and proceeds will go towards the benefit of the Gibbes Museum of Art Acquisitions Fund.
