Noel Gallery in Charlotte, NC Hosts Stills Exhibit with Artists Gordon Parks, Adger Cowans & Bob Green

The Noel Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will host an exhibit, Stills, featuring works by Gordon Parks, Adger Cowans and Bob Green through Dec. 28.

The term "still" refers to that instant, when the camera captures a moving image and holds it still, allowing us an opportunity to linger in the image and the moment. When the camera is in the hands of photography masters, a single image has the capacity to tell a story with profound poetry, humor and candor.

The major motion picture industry contracts the best in the field to capture the "stills" for their productions. Gordon Parks, Adger Cowans & Bob Green each internationally renown photographers in their own right, are three of a unique group who share the unique specialty of "motion picture film photography".

The exhibit Stills will provide an exciting glimpse into the "Black film" genre. From Our Gang in the 1940's to the "exploitation films of the 60's, to Black Independent films at the turn of the century and contemporary HBO specials, these photographs document Black people in film for a span of fifty years. Lena Horne, The Hines Brothers, Ossie Davis, Mario Van Peebles, DannyGlover, Alfre Woodard, Charles Dutton, Jasmine Guy, Wesley Snipes ... And more each cast in memorable roles caught on film by unforgettable photographers

Come and see for yourself that a picture is worth a thousand words!
