Tiemaker's Gallery in Charleston, SC, presents Recent Works by Malt Overend on view Nov. 16 through Jan. 10, 2002. Accomplished lowcountry artist, Overend, will exhibit landscapes, still lifes, nudes, and nonobjective paintings.
Overend's painted surfaces are rich with layers of glazing and scumbling to create tension and interest between flat spaces and deep spaces. Best known for his simplified landscapes and still lifes, all of his work gives an abstracted interpretation of life. Overend's paintings have been collected for over 20 years. He speaks of his paintings as "poems, simple and direct."
