Grace Li Wang Art Gallery in Raleigh, NC, Presents Works by Grace Li Wang, Cheryl Sweeney and Charles Philip Brooks

Grace Li Wang Art Gallery in Raleigh, NC, presents the exhibition, Poetic Landscapes, featuring works by Grace Li Wang, Cheryl Sweeney and Charles Philip Brooks, on view through Nov. 23, 2002,

Wang exhibits her signature series, Nature: Impressions of the Soul, Group 2. Her contemporary paintings are known for their dramatic colors and stylized forms. Wang's media is two-dimensional work executed in oil, acrylic, pastels and mixed media. She has exhibited widely internationally and locally.

Sweeney is a pastel painter whose work is considered both interpretive and progressive. Blending formal training in fine art with a passion for impressionism, she brings a unique contemplative vision to the creative process resulting in a new realism. For Sweeney, a painting is complete when the viewer is drawn into the atmosphere created, feels the rhythm of the wind, the warmth of the sun, or responds as she did to the poetry of the landscape that was her inspiration. She has exhibited widely in the US, including galleries and museums in Pennsylvania, Colorado and North Carolina. Sweeney has been a fine arts instructor at art centers in Nebraska, Colorado and North Carolina.

Brooks is primarily a landscape oil painter, focusing on the landscape of the Southeast. His work incorporates elements of Impressionism and firmly rooted in the American Barbizon/Tonalist tradition. He has studied under the highly respected Boston School Impressionist painter, Paul Ingbretson, as well as with renowned American Barbizon painter Dennis Sheehan.
