Summit One Gallery in Highlands, NC, Features Exhibition for the Holiday Seasons

The Summit One Gallery in Highlands, NC, will present the exhibition, Icons of the Season, from Nov. 2 through Dec. 31, 2002. The presentation is a multi-genre exhibition for Chanukah and Christmas.

The holiday season is fast approaching. The Jewish holiday of Chanukah begins the Saturday after Thanksgiving this year. And Christmas is just a short three and half weeks later. "Icons of the Season will f2eature menorahs, shabbats, mezuzahs, dreidles and tzedakah boxes by Piper Strong. Strong is from Harwick, VT, and works in torch cut steel with enamel paints. Her "Dancing Rabbi and "Noah's Ark are two of her most popular menorahs, whimsical yet still meaningful.

Tom Lockart and Mark Woodham (One Eared Cow Glass) from Columbia, SC, will be exhibiting blown glass menorahs, ornaments and angels. Carolina Snowflakes by renowned basket weaver, Billie Ruth Sudduth will be included. Ceramic icons of Christmas and Chanukah will be provided by Evie Auerbach and Gay Smith. Robert Allison, Columbia, SC, has submitted a sculptured menorah.

Exhibiting photography for the season will be Hunter Coleman; exhibiting paintings and icons will be Highlands' own Rosemary Clark Stiefel, also Carl Blair from Greenville, SC.
