Fourth Voorhees Family Art Show and Sale Takes Place in Asheville, NC

The fourth Voorhees Family Art Show and Sale will be held on Nov. 28 from 3-7pm and Nov. 29, 2003, from 10am - 5pm at the home of Mildred Voorhees at 43 Woodward Avenue in Asheville, NC.

A collection of paintings and artwork by Voorhees family members will be on exhibit and for sale at this unusual event. Meet the family of artists known throughout North Carolina. The matriarch of the family, Mildred, has colorful, patterned watercolors which have been gaining recognition via awards and publication. She will be displaying her rich oil still lifes and landscapes as well.

Three of Mildred's six children will be showing their work at this event. Susan, an occupational therapist from Baltimore, Maryland works in watercolor and pastels. Jane, from Asheville, works in watercolor, pastel and colored pencil and is a member of the North Carolina Watercolor Society. David, a professional potter since 1974, makes hand-painted porcelain pottery. David's wife, Molly Sharp Voorhees, fabricates contemporary jewelry using sterling silver and gold. David and Molly own Hand in Hand Gallery in Flat Rock, North Carolina.

Other family members whose work can be seen are Pendy Payne from Hendersonville with her unique, hand stitched journals; Trace Voorhees from Philadelphia with his photographic images and extended family member, Chad Alice Hagen, from Asheville with her hand felted scarves and hats.

The Voorhees Family Art Show and Sale will be located at 43 Woodward Avenue which is one block off Merrimon Avenue behind The Hop ice cream shop in Asheville.
