Charleston Art Gallery & Portrait Studio in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Peggy Forest Bischoff

Charleston Art Gallery & Portrait Studio in Charleston, SC, will present the exhibition, A Wall Garden, featuring watercolors by Peggy Forest Bischoff, from Nov. 19 through Dec. 24, 2004.

"I am so excited about this show," says Bischoff, "thrilled about this new painting surface. I love the excitement of experimenting with a medium that seems to have a life of its own, and I love the idea that I am the first to mount a show in Charleston using this new process." The show will be comprised entirely of watercolors painted on "watercolor canvas." The completed canvases are treated similarly to oils or acrylics. They are coated for permanence with a fixative, specific to the medium, and framed without mat or glass. Some are on gallery wrap canvas.

"The results are striking," says Cecile Langham Cothran, owner of Charleston Art Gallery. "Peggy's work is usually vivid and has a strong value structure. It's as though this new process was made for her. It's much stronger than a typical watercolor."

A vivacious and creative 70 year old, Bischoff is known for her floral renderings. As well, she is a nationally accredited Master Flower Show Judge and Designer. Both her love of the subject and her knowledge of the form, color and growth habits of horticulture are evident in this botanically oriented exhibition.
