Artful Living in Hickory, NC, Features Works by JW and Sandi Baker

Works by JW and Sandi Baker will be on view at Artful Living, located on Level Three at the Hickory Furniture Mart in Hickory, NC, from Nov. 1 - 30, 2006. The exhibition will feature Native American art.

JW Baker has been a professional artist for the last 15 years. Born in Vienna, Austria, he has traveled the world meeting fellow artists. His artistic vision takes shape in many media forms - culminating in a style that is bound to none, yet utilizes as many as necessary to tell the story. Past works include those for Walt Disney World, Sacramento Zoo, Sierra Endangered Cat Haven, The CARE Foundation, Tippi Hedren's "Shambala Preserve", and works for the University of Florida. JW has created numerous instructional articles for art-related publications and has been featured several times in Art Scene International. He is currently working on illustrations for books written by the artist himself.

Sandi Baker is a Hickory native and a multimedia artist and skillful entrepreneur. Finding no local venues for her work she started her own sign company at 19 years of age as a means to showcase her talents. Sandi ran the company for 13 successful years creating vast amounts of uncommon art, signs and etched glass. She has created various works for Paramount, People's Bank, Appalachian State University and hundreds more. Sandi draws from her considerable array of skills to create artwork that is not just limited to the canvas. She is experienced in art, graphic design, airbrushing, sign-writing, glass etching, gilding, sandblasting, digital art and photography, wood finishing and mural painting. Sandi is currently working on several new series of large paintings in acrylic.

Both artists bring extensive experience and unique skills to the table in this artistic union and plan to utilize their combined knowledge in future collaborative projects. They refuse to live anything but the lives that they envision. Both believe that they were brought together by fate and were destined to create art!
