Wells Gallery in Charleston Offers Works by Karen Larson Turner

Wells Gallery in Charleston, SC, will present the exhibit, Edges, featuring new work by classically-trained painter Karen Larson Turner. The exhibit will be on view from Nov. 3 - 17, 2006, and for the Charleston Fine Art Dealers' Association Fine Art Annual, Nov. 3-5, 2006. The artists is well-known for her dramatic murals at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort.

Concentrating on the interplay of elements in the coastal landscape, these oil-on-linen paintings created specifically for this show will focus on the different moods created where the boundaries of water, land, and sky intersect in the Lowcountry landscape. "There is something about the place where things meet that fascinates me," explains Turner. "From one edge of the long day to the other, from the opening dawn to the gathering dusk, it is the intersection of these timeless elements and the boundaries along which they meet that define the coastal landscape."

"The elements, along with effects of weather and time of day combine in seemingly infinite ways, creating vast ranges of emotion," Turner says.  "Nature continues to surprise me, to move me as I move through it, and painting gives me the opportunity to interpret, share, and hopefully move others with what I have seen."
