Art Central Gallery in Summerville, SC, Features Works by Kathleen Wiley

Art Central Gallery in Summerville, SC, will exhibit new works of painter Kathleen Wiley in an exhibit of oil on canvas opening on Nov. 10 and continuing through Dec. 31, 2007.

Wiley, who is new to Art Central, imparts her love of wildlife and nature through her ability to capture a dramatically realistic image with just the right balance between detail and painterly brushwork. Every painting begins with the inspiration that comes from her personal travels, experiences or encounters with the subject. While most of her paintings feature wildlife, she also paints landscapes, nostalgic farm scenes and garden inspired art. Wiley feels that a successful painting is not only pleasing to look at, but should communicate a story to its viewers, something that can be appreciated upon each viewing.

Growing up on a horse farm in western New York and later attending the Art institute of Pittsburgh for graphic design laid the foundation for Wiley's love of animals and art. Her award-winning art has been exhibited at numerous galleries and one woman shows including a solo exhibit at the renowned Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History in Jamestown, NY.

Wiley has exhibited at select juried art shows including the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition and the Northeast Wildlife Fine Art Expo, where she won 1st place in the wildlife category. Her paintings have appeared on AM Buffalo and Art Talk television shows as well as in many magazines and newspapers across the country.

Wiley recently moved to Summerville and has been given fresh inspiration by her new surroundings. In her own words she says, "I have lived from coast to coast and in between, but not until moving here did it feel like I was home."
