River Arts District Studio Stroll in Asheville, NC, Takes Place - Nov. 8 & 9, 2008

The artists of Asheville, NC's historic River Arts District open their doors for the Fall Studio Stroll, Nov. 8 & 9, 2008, from 10am to 6pm both days. Now boasting more that 100 artists and craftsmen of all kinds, the District has become a mecca for a vital creative community as well as an arts destination for people from all over the country.

This year, in order to accommodate the growing crowds, Strollers will have the option to park at the Asheville Chamber of Commerce and ride between studio buildings. Asheville Historic Trolley Tours will provide this service, which will make eight stops in the District and loop back to the Chamber in a 30-minute circuit. The fare is $5 for an entire day. Trolley drivers will provide narrative history of the River District during rides.

A new addition to the District is the recently renovated Riverside Studios Gallery on the corner of West Haywood and Riverside Drive. This 4,200 square foot, multi-faceted space was established primarily to exhibit and promote the River District Artists.

There will be an information tent at the intersection of Clingman, Roberts, Depot and Lyman Streets. Plenty of parking is available throughout the area. The District's two popular eateries, 12 Bones and Clingman Café, will be open for the Stroll.

Full color maps with directions and a list of participating studios are available at the Asheville Chamber of Commerce, The Asheville Area Arts Council, at River Arts District studios and at galleries and other locations around town. Many studios are open throughout the year. Directions and more information can be found at (www.riverdistrictartists.com) or by calling 828/252-9122.
