Woolworth Walk in Asheville, NC, Offers Works by Susan Luke & Jennifer Goff

Woolworth Walk in Asheville, NC, will present an exhibit of paintings by Susan Luke and ceramic works by Jennifer Goff, on view in the FW Front Gallery, from Nov. 1 - 29, 2011. A reception will be held on Nov. 4, from 5-7pm.

For Susan Luke oil paintings of still lifes are a stage on which she explores the drama of light and shadow. The objects in her paintings are chosen for how they express this play of mystery and illumination and for their symbolic roles in traditional still life painting. Luke enjoys painting forms from fruit and glassware to beautiful dresses and playful pieces of candy. Her work has won several awards and has become very well known and respected.

Jennifer Goff creates delicate ceramic pieces with much character. After spending several years teaching in the classroom, she has chosen to stay home with her children and work exclusively on a line of functional while sculptural fine china for the contemporary home. Most pieces begin on the wheel and are then hand sculpted making each creation one-of-a-kind. These little sculptures are intended for everyday use rather than sit on a mantle collecting dust. She is happy to have the opportunity to bring joy and conversation to people’s table.
