Seacoast Artists Guild in Myrtle Beach, SC, Offers Works by Mike Covington

The Seacoast Artists Guild in Myrtle Beach, SC, will present an exhibit of works by award-winning and frequently published photographer/artist Mike Covington, on view at the Seacoast Artists Gallery, located in The Market Common, from Nov. 1 - 30, 2013.

Covington enjoys capturing the essence of light and color found in the sunrises and sunsets along the rivers, waterways and beaches of the Lowcountry in South Carolina. He believes that the beauty of our fragile environment is exemplified when one spends time outdoors, watching the sights and listening to the sounds of nature, appreciating and understanding the importance of protecting these precious gifts for future generations.

Covington and his wife Dottie moved to South Carolina in 2006 to be able to explore the Lowcountry. He exhibits at Mercy Care Art Gallery, Harvest Commons, Seacoast Artists Gallery at The Market Common, and Collector’s Café. Last year he was a month-long solo exhibitor at the Kirby Gallery in Roxboro, NC.

Over the past several years, Covington has been received many awards for his outstanding photographs. One of his most popular images, “Peace on the River” won 1st Place in numerous shows, including Winyah Rivers Foundation’s Annual Photo Contest and Swing into Spring Exhibit & Sale in Litchfield, SC. Another well received photo is his “Candlelight” image. The Waccamaw Time, the major newspaper in Georgetown, SC, and the Low Country frequently uses Covington’s images for their Headers, as often as two times per month.

The Seacoast Artists Gallery exhibits the original artwork of over 70 local artists. Oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, fiber art, photography, engraved silver and clay is just some of the media that can be viewed and purchased at the gallery.

The Seacoast Artists Guild is a 501(c)(3) non-profit visual arts organization dedicated to promoting and advancing excellence in the visual arts through teaching, exhibits, workshops and special events. It is focused on developing and nurturing young artists-to-be through training programs, sponsorship of art scholarships and art shows.
