Honoring The Gift Of Peace at Touchstone Gallery in Hendersonville, NC

As we all dash headlong into the festive season of winter celebrations, Touchstone Gallery downtown Hendersonville, NC is pleased to offer the following new works that reflect on the gift of Peace on view through Dec. 28.

Currently on display in the gallery's main window, seven Apostles of Non-Violence from a new series of enamel on copper painting by St. Pete Beach, FL enamelist Mary Klein. According to Klein she has tried "to put some familiar faces to some faceless names of icons who have been advocates of peace or have become associated with the concept of peace.., the prayer books that accompany each saint are filled with the names of victims from September 11 of last year..." To create a sanctuary for this work, Touchstone has hung international Peace prayer flags as well as Asheville's Nancy Allen's hand-painted silk flags above the pedestals featuring the Apostles and their altars. The display will be in place until December 28.

Also featured at this time are pewter Nativity and Angel images from Don Drumm of Akron, Ohio as well as blown opalescent glass angels from Riverside Studio of Hollister, Missouri.

Finally, Dale McEntire of Saluda, NC has recently finished an Italian Crystalline Alabaster sculpture entitled "Silence which is now featured at Touchstone Gallery. This exploration of three dimensional art joins a new group of McEntire's signature landscape paintings also on display.

As has been the gallery's custom for 14 years, UNICEF holiday cards are available and all proceeds are sent to UN headquarters in New York City to help children around the world.
