Olde North Charleston Merchants Association in North Charleston, SC, Presents Winter Art Walk December 4, 2004

The Olde North Charleston Merchants Association is proud to sponsor The Second Annual Winter Art Walk in the Village. The Art Walk will take place on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, from 5pm-10pm on East Montague Avenue in the historic business district of North Charleston.

The Art Walk begins at the Park Circle Gill (on the corner of East Montague and Spruill Ave.) and ends at the Madra Rua in the Olde Village area of Park Circle. This year's event is in conjunction with the North Charleston Christmas Parade. The Arts Walk and parking are free.

The Art Walk will feature the works of more than twenty-five Lowcountry artists including painters, jewelers, musicians, stained and glass blowing artists, candle makers, craftsmen, iron workers and more. There will be live demonstrations of glass blowing and ironwork. Students from the Charleston County School of the Arts are transforming the storefronts into painted holiday scenes from days past.

Salvador Dali

In addition, Aunt Bea's restaurant will host a special showing of original works by Salvador Dali.

Featured artists include Sally Leydic, Sean Ahern, Kevin Reynolds, Funky Junk Art Work, Graham Lawing, Samantha June, Kevin West, Jeff Jackson, Justin Walling, Sharon Mitchell, Bill Buggell, Dustin Fanning, Kevin Taylor, Elezar Cruz, Virginia Brown, Julio Cotto, Ryan Tyler, Leigh Magar, M Fitzgerald, Gretchen Dzedzej, Alex Cox and Raymond Schultz. Students from the School of the Arts will paint the village storefronts with holiday themes.

Additional information and maps call 843/225-6292 or visit (www.parkcircle.net).The Belton Center for the Arts in Belton, SC, is presenting the exhibit, Carolina on My Mind: the Carolinas from Black and White to Digital, which will be on view through Jan. 8, 2005.

This exhibition features the work of over 20 photographers from throughout the region highlighting the people, places and events of the Carolinas. The photographers used a variety of equipment and media, and each saw our state in their own unique way. Some images are familiar and comfortable; some will challenge the viewer both in composition and technique.

Artists with works in the exhibition include: Jose Acaba, Ashley Addison, Richard Banister, Bart Boatwright, Juan A. Brown, Danielle Dahl, Wanda Davis, Jane Ellenburg, Steven Faucette, Dan Harvell, Heyward Henderson, Mark Hopkins, Charlie Jordon, Ron Kennedy, Shawn Knox, Andrew Lindley, Terry Lindley, June Martin, Martin Melton, Barbara Mitchell, Debbie Rogers, Rob Silance, Scott Suter, John Talbert, Terry Thompson, Wes Walker, and Alyson Whitefield.
