b. brown gallery in Matthews, NC, Offers Works by Sandy Wilkinson and Shane

b. brown gallery in Matthews, NC, is featuring works by Sandy Wilkinson and Shane, on view from Dec. 2 - Jan. 11, 2007.

While working as a registered nurse in the 70's, Sandy Wilkinson started painting "acrylics on acrylics", leading to many commissioned pieces. In the 80's, she set aside the art of painting for the art of writing and had 3 books published by Dodd Mead, Prentice Hall, and Pinnacle Books. Wilkinson returned to painting in 2000. Her main intent is to get the viewer involved through whimsy and humor. Anything goes - from collaging bits and pieces onto her oil paintings to photo-realistic butterflies dancing on musical instruments.

Shane discovered a talent for art while attending Providence Day School where he received numerous awards in painting, sculpting, and creative writing. This passion was rekindled several years ago under the tutelage of bonnie brown fergus and Connie Winters, both well known Charlotte, NC, artists and instructors. Today, Shane is quickly growing into a first class American Impressionistic painter. Those who have watched his style and colors subtlety change will smile to find that his current choice of subject matter has an endearing side.
