19th Annual Chatham Studio Tour Takes Place - Dec. 3&4 and Dec. 10&11, 2011

The 19th Annual Chatham Studio Tour, sponsored by the Chatham Artists Guild and the Chatham County Arts Council, takes place throughout Chatham County NC for two weekends including, Dec. 3&4 and Dec. 10&11, 2011, from 10am-5pm each day. A reception will be held on Dec. 2, from 7-9pm at the Central Carolina Community College gallery in Pittsboro, NC.

The Studio Tour is self guided with each studio identified by a large red triangle on the map and signs near and at each studio. A printed brochure is available by e-mailing (ewdesigns@pinehurst.net).

The reception at the Central Carolina Community College gallery in Pittsboro features one work by each participating artist on the tour and a display of art from the students of Chatham County Schools.

A preview exhibit of works by participating artists is on view at the ArtsCenter in Carrboro, NC, through Dec. 15, 2011. A reception will be held there on Dec. 9, from 6-9pm in conjunction with Carrboro’s Friday Art Walk.

The tour was founded in 1992 under the direction of Cathy Holt, with the goal of promoting artists living in the county. The Studio Tour was one of the many programs of the Chatham County Arts Council (CCAC, also known as ChathamArts).

The tour is one of the oldest in North Carolina, a prototype for other area studio tours, and a highly respected art venue. Since its inception, participation in the Studio Tour has grown from 32 artists to nearly 60 in recent years.
