Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Kim Schuessler

Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present an exhibit of cheerful and festive new paintings by Kim Schuessler, on view from Dec. 1 - 31, 2011. A reception will be held on Dec. 9, from 6-9pm.

Schuessler’s lighthearted images come with a serious art background. Educated at The University of Georgia and Parsons School of Design in New York, she has honed her fun loving craft. Schuessler also spent time studying with Dan Connally in Cortona, Italy and at the University of Bourgogne in Dijon, France.

Schuessler’s paintings are joyously kooky. Figures that recall flapper-era images dance about in the sunshine and under umbrellas, strolling and dancing with abandon. To the casual eye, these works have a child-like quality, but of course, Schuessler’s paintings are more than childish patterns. Along with sunny colors and anatomical exaggerations, she employs scribbled words as information and as non-verbal elements. Her work offers the delectable quality of a dessert concoction. Schuessler’s work is in high demand.

Located in beautiful Myers Park, Shain Gallery has been on the forefront of the North Carolina art scene since 1998. The gallery represents many leading national and regional artists, and was recently voted yet again the “Best of the Best” for best Charlotte gallery.
