New Exhibit by Artspace Displayed in RDU's Terminal A in Raleigh, NC

Visitors to Raleigh-Durham International Airport's Terminal A, in Raleigh, NC, will be able to view a new exhibit curated by Artspace, a Raleigh-based, non-profit visual arts center. The Terminal A art gallery is located between Terminal A and Terminal A North Concourse, and will feature works by three Artspace artists: Mary Shannon Johnstone, photography, Judy Jones, printmaking, and Annette Rogers, mixed media painting. The exhibit will be on view through April 4, 2005.

Mary Shannon Johnstone

Mary Shannon Johnstone holds an MFA from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), and a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Johnstone currently works as the Assistant Professor of Art at Meredith College in Raleigh. The works exhibited by Johnstone incorporate her reflections on a near-drowning when she was young.

Annette Rogers

Annette Rogers graduated with a BS in Education from Miami University, Oxford, OH. Her work is in private and corporate collections in the United States and abroad. Rodgers's paintings are created out of the artist's response to nature and are contemporary expressions of space and surface treatment.

Judy Jones

Judy Jones is a printmaker and art educator who lives in Naples, FL. She received her Masters degree in Art Education from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, and her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Elegant and playful, Jones's prints depict the familiar and commonplace while simultaneously holding captive a secret irony.

Artspace is a non-profit visual art center located in downtown Raleigh dedicated to presenting quality exhibitions within an open-studio environment. Visit (www.rdu.com) to learn more about artists in this exhibit and permanent public art on display at RDU. This is the third exhibit at RDU produced in collaboration with Artspace.

RDU offers fine art to give the public a break from the fast pace of air travel. "The goal of the exhibits is to offer passengers a reason to stop and enjoy some of the dynamic visual art of the Triangle," said Mary Poole, Executive Director, Artspace. "We are thrilled to participate with a venue that serves thousands of people daily."
