Hamlet Art Gallery in Charleston, SC, Offers Works by David Dalton

The Hamlet Art Gallery in Charleston, SC, will present the exhibit, Art of the Wild, featuring new works by David Dalton, from Feb. 16 - 28, 2006.

Dalton, an avid sportsman and wildlife conservationist, captures wildlife images in his mixed media and acrylic paintings. His interest in painting as a creative form began in college. After graduating from Duke University, Dalton continued to paint in his spare time developing his skills. Although his formal training was in a field that left little time to paint, he soon realized the creative urge was stronger than his allotted painting time. Realizing other painters had much to offer from their teaching point of view, Dalton began attending numerous workshops. These contemporary artists nurtured his creative urge and assisted him to develop his own style.

In the early 1990's, the world of painting really exploded for Dalton. He joined artists' organizations, entered shows, and won prestigious awards. All this reinforced his creative desire. Dalton is retired from his previous profession as an orthopedic surgeon and now has ample time to enjoy the process of creating images in whatever media seems appropriate. His works are primarily in mixed media (watercolor, pastel, charcoal and acrylics) or pure acrylics.

Dalton says, "The creative process is very challenging in any art form but especially in creating visual images. The challenge is the reward." Currently, his studio is in Meggett, SC.

Dalton's paintings may be seen at The Hamlet Fine Art Gallery, Charleston, SC; The Islands Art Gallery, James Island, SC, and The Sea Oats Gallery, St. George Island, FL.

Dalton and the gallery will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Ace Basin Fund to help protect the environment and wildlife.
