South Carolina Watermedia Society Offers Regional Gathering Across State of South Carolina

The South Carolina Watermedia Society (SCWS) will host its annual Regional Gatherings with programs at ten locations throughout the state including Beaufort, Chapin, Columbia, Florence, Greenville, Georgetown, Hilton Head, Orangeburg, Rock Hill and Spartanburg. SCWS members, ALL interested artists (non-members), art patrons, and the general public are invited to attend, free of charge. The SCWS Regional Gatherings not only provide an educational program but also offer an opportunity for artists and art patrons to get together on a local level, share expertise, network with fellow artists, exchange ideas, get some artistic feedback ... and just visit with some friends.

The program, Taking the Fear Factor out of Digital Imaging, will be conducted by five different professional photographers including Jay Gross, Don Nelson, David Lee, Terry Rouche and John Wukela. It will help artists (novice through advanced) to capture digital images of their artwork for exhibition submissions and professional marketing of their work. The use of slides is being phased out and the move is to digital images. So, this "how-to" program will provide information about lighting the work, how to deal with photographing under Plexiglas or glass without getting reflections and photographing the subtleties of texture in your art.

Discussion will also include information about exposures, color, and perspective plus types of digital cameras, file formats, and working the image from the camera to the computer and more. Whether artists photograph their own work or just need to know where to have it done and what to ask for, they will find this program very informative.
