February Issue 2010

The Artists Guild Gallery of Greenville in Greenville, SC, Features Works by Jim Fowler

The Artists Guild Gallery of Greenville in Greenville, SC, will present an exhibit of photographs by Jim Fowler, on view from Feb. 1 - 28, 2010.

Fowler, a native of Bennettsville, SC, has been taking photographs since he was old enough to hold a Brownie Camera. He has lived and worked in Greenville since 1980, and is best known for his book, Wild Orchids of South Carolina: A Popular Natural History, published by the University of South Carolina Press in 2005.

In Feb. 2009, he participated in the "Winter Light" photography workshop in Yosemite, CA, sponsored by the Ansel Adams Gallery and led by master photographer, Keith Walklet.

Fowler moved from film to digital photography in the year 2000. He uses Olympus cameras and lenses, and performs all his image post-processing, printing, and framing.

Come "see" the photographs of Fowler. Be awed and inspired as you view these images of nature. Try to understand his feeling and passion of the moment as he froze these pictures in time for our enjoyment now. See what Fowler has captured through the camera's lens of the artistic beauty of nature, from expansive, grand landscapes to close-up macro images. What treats for our eyes to behold!

The Artists Guild Gallery of Greenville is a co-operative gallery located in the heart of downtown Greenville. Over twenty local artists are represented in the gallery along with various mediums including acrylic, mixed media, oil and watercolor paintings, jewelry, glass, woodwork and sculpture. One or more of the artists is in the gallery at all times, demonstrating throughout the day and always ready to discuss their art with visitors.
