Cleveland Community College in Shelby, NC, Features Works by Josiah Mark Cameron

Cleveland Community College in Shelby, NC, is presenting an exhibit of works by former CCC fine arts student and artist, Josiah Mark Cameron, on view in the Pennington-McIntyre Art Gallery, through Mar. 14, 2014.

Cameron was born and raised in Kings Mountain, NC, and attended Cleveland Community College for two years before continuing his education at Appalachian State University where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in drawing and painting in May 2013. Cameron began his pursuit of art at an early age through drawing, and by the age of sixteen he began to explore painting. Cameron currently works and lives in Greensboro, NC.

Cameron is a former member of the Nth Degree Gallery and Studios located in Boone, NC. He has exhibited at various venues in Boone, including the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts, Catherine J. Smith Gallery, Looking Glass Gallery, and Jones House. He also showed his work frequently at the Nth Degree Gallery and participated in organizing multiple exhibitions with fellow Nth members. Cameron has received several awards, including the Sherry Edwards Memorial Scholarship, a Plemmons Student Union Purchase Award, and the Student’s Choice Award for the category “In/Out/On the Body” in Art Expo at the Catherine J. Smith Gallery.
