Stokes County Arts Council Gallery in Danbury, NC, Presents Works by Frank Duncan
A popular Stokes County artist, Frank Duncan, will have an exhibit of his rural images at the Stokes County Arts Council Gallery in Danbury, NC, through March 29. Duncan's popularity stems from his use of themes depicting rural life in Stokes County and the surrounding region. Work by Duncan provides a glimpse back in time when most people's goals were to provide the basics for their families or when living in a house with no plumbing and wood heat didn't mean you were poor but that you were just average.
Duncan enjoys using his preferred medium, watercolor, which lends itself to detail due to its quick drying time. He uses oils when doing portraits because of their vibrancy and longevity. Prints are available of many of Duncan's popular originals. The artist does most of his own framing which adds to the affordability of his work.
Raised in Orange County, Duncan moved to Stokes County in 1983 because he and his wife, Jeannie, thought it would be a great place to live. In 1997, Duncan took a "leap of faith" by quitting his full time job as a machine designer to follow his dream of being a full time artist. The Duncans reside in Madison, NC, and have two sons, Mark and Adam, who are both in college.
With titles such as Morning Glory, Peanuts-N-Pop, Virginia's Buttercups, Summertime Cure, Red Birch and Family Farm this exhibit is sure to delight the young and old from all walks of life.
