Cheryl Newby Gallery in Pawleys Island, SC, Offers Works by Kathy Metts

An exhibition of works by Georgetown, SC artist Kathy Metts will be presented by The Cheryl Newby Gallery, in Pawleys Island, SC, from Mar. 27 through Apr. 23, 2004. Plantation Palette, will feature eighteen new paintings by Metts. Historical Lowcountry plantations and beach dwellings of the Carolina Lowcountry form the subjects of the show. Metts' vision of the past coupled with her remarkable imagination bring to life images of a simpler time.

Metts, a North Carolina native, attended the North Carolina Governor's School for the Arts, and graduated from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro in 1976 with a degree in StudioArt. She is widely recognized for her unique style which combines expressionistic use of color and motion in pastel and watercolor. The recipient of numerous awards, Metts works have been exhibited throughout the Carolinas, and recently in a three person show in Bois-Colombes, France.
