March Issue 2004

University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, Features Works by Curt LaCross

The Human Condition, an exhibition of hauntingly surreal life-size stoneware sculptural wallpieces by Curt LaCross will be featured in the McMaster Gallery at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, from March 1 - 31, 2004.

LaCross is a noted ceramic sculptor who resides in Michigan. His curiosity has led to the development of a body of work that demonstrates the physical and psychoanalytical paradoxes present in the human psyche. Hatred and love, beauty and the horrific, malevolence and goodness as polarities evident in these works.

LaCross was born in Alpena, MI. In 1992, he moved to Mt. Pleasant, MI, where he attended Central Michigan University and obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. LaCross then went on to earn a Master of Fine Arts degree from Michigan State University. He has taught at Alpena Community College, and at Michigan State University.
