Jerald Melberg Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Work by Contemporary Masters and Christopher Clamp

Jerald Melberg Gallery in Charlotte, NC, is presenting the exhibits, Commonplace Treasures: Narrative Still Life Paintings, featuring works by Christopher Clamp and Contemporary Master Prints, featuring an exhibition of lithographs, etchings and silkscreens by many of America's most important and influential artists of the last quarter century. Both exhibitions will be on view through Mar. 25, 2006.

Christopher Clamp

Jerald Melberg Gallery is proud to announce its inaugural exhibition for Christopher Clamp. A native of Leesville, SC, Clamp received his BFA with a concentration in painting from Winthrop University in 2001. He was recently honored by being included in the prestigious biennial Re-Presenting Representation at the Arnot Museum in Elmira, NY. He has also been honored with inclusion in the 2001 South Carolina Triennial at the SC State Museum.

Clamp's deeply personal images are influenced by simple yet poignant childhood memories. The commonplace toys and objects featured in his paintings are artifacts gathered in the process of recollecting childhood experiences, particularly the hours spent with his beloved grandfather, amidst his grandfather's collected "treasures" and tools. The objects are meaningful to the artist and to his execution of both content and the carefully executed textures within the paintings. The viewer is invited to bring his or her own personal history to the narrative that unfolds within each painting.

Chuck Close
Alex Katz

Contemporary Master Prints, features lithographs, etchings and silkscreens by many of America's most important and influential artists of the last quarter century. Through their experimentation with using and combining all types of printmaking, this generation of painters and sculptors have brought the medium to an unprecedented level of artmaking.

Jean Dubuffet
Jim Dine

The exhibition includes prints by: Romare Bearden, Francesco Clemente, Chuck Close, Gene Davis, Jim Dine, Jean Dubuffet, Helen Frankenthaler, Al Held, Alex Katz, Elsworth Kelly, Sol LeWitt, Robert Mangold, Robert Motherwell, Louis Nevelson, James Siena, and Pat Steir.
