Center of the Earth Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Offers Works by Patrick Glover & Sharon Dowell

Center of the Earth Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present the exhibit, Seen & Unseen, featuring works by Patrick Glover and Sharon Dowell. The exhibition will be on view from Mar. 7 through Apr. 26, 2008.

The paintings of Patrick Glover and Sharon Dowell suggest place and a sense of a new way of seeing the familiar. Both explore layers of images and experiences into complex compositions.

Dowell has exhibited in the Southeast, L.A., and New York City, including The Society of Illustrators Museum, The Tampa Museum of Art, and The A.I.R. Gallery in Chelsea. Her work is included in the permanent collections of The Federal Reserve Bank and Duke Power Company. Inspired by a mixture of life that surrounds her, she explores the construct of texture, breaking down images and fading her subject to a memory or an emotion. The moving of shapes becomes an intellectual voyage as she articulates impressions of her environment. Dowell graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from UNC Charlotte.

Patrick Glover

Glover earned his BFA from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, New York, NY. His work has been exhibited in Charlotte, Brooklyn, and New York City. He was also recently selected for New York City's MTA "Arts for Transit" project. Glover's work is inspired by the ambiguity of perception. He purposefully chooses impersonal imagery with which the viewer is invited to add their own narrative. Glover's paintings emerge as hypnogogic dream states, illusions of perceptual certainty.
