Colleton County Arts Council in Walterboro, SC, Features Works by Jim Hoagland

The Colleton County Arts Council in Walterboro, SC, is presenting the exhibit, Sculpture and Woodworking, featuring works by Jim Hoagland, on view in the Colleton Center Gallery through Mar. 6, 2008.

The exhibit consists of beautifully carved fantasy staffs inspired by computer games and books, and fanciful found-object sculptures assembled on plywood bases with assemblies of parts from computers, T.V.s, and other electronics.

Hoagland grew up in Kentucky and graduated from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. He began teaching in Jefferson County, KY, and moved to Colleton County in 1985 where he taught at Ruffin Middle and Ruffin High Schools for 18 years.

Hoagland has exhibited his art at the Speed Museum in Louisville and the Evansville Museum for Arts and Sciences.
