Hamlet Fine Art Gallery in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Melinda Lewin

The Hamlet Fine Art Gallery in Charleston, SC, will present the exhibit, Nature's Dance Revealed, featuring new paintings by Melinda Lewin, on view from Mar. 7 - 31, 2008.

This exhibit will feature works inspired by the beauty of nature, with emphasis on florals and landscapes. One of the paintings on display, Cone Flowers on Daniel Island, has been chosen to grace the cover of the Charleston County Parks and Recreation magazine which will be published the end of Feb. 2008  The painting is a vibrant depiction of nature's yellows and greens with intense lights and darks, making it a characteristic work of Lewin's.

Lewin, a South Carolina native has become an investment collectors dream with her works dramatically increasing in value since her debut at the gallery three years ago. She is sought after for commissions frequently because of her vibrant strokes of color and intense light and darkness captured in her paintings. Stephanie Hamlet, gallery owner, says "Lewin's work is best described as impressionistic with a modern flavor. She is very passionate about the color red, integrating this wonderful red into many of her works."

Lewin is a self-taught artist, but has had great influence from her mother, Stephanie Shuler Hamlet and her sister, Kellie Jacobs. The three of them have been enjoying painting side by side for many years.
