Hidell Brooks Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Diane Bywaters

Hidell Brooks Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present the exhibit, Mother Earth in North Carolina, featuring works by Diane Bywaters, on view from Mar. 7 - 29, 2008.

Bywaters offers the following statement about her exhibition, "My decade long connection to Hidell Brooks Gallery challenges my creativity. With this series I continue the spiritual perspective work initiated with a large commission awarded to me through the state of Wisconsin's percent for art program and also an UPDC grant from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point where I am a professor of Art. North Carolina's stunning seasonal change from summer to fall is apropos to my personal journey late summer last: my mother's unexpected cancer and death within two months. I dedicate this show to her human-to-spirit transformation and how this process reflects the beauty of landscape from the mountains to the sea, from summer's animation to fall's stillness. Life is hard. It is often also unpleasant and surprisingly short. My wish for the viewer is to pause for a long moment of tranquility and gratitude for mother earth, for those who mother us. Hear the poetry of her mountains and seascapes as I do when I paint in North Carolina."
