Providence Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Offers Works by Ada R. Offerdahl

Providence Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present the exhibit, Past, Present, and Future, a one-woman exhibition featuring landscape, still life, and portraiture in pastel and oil by Ada Offerdahl. The exhibit will be on view from Mar. 13 - 31, 2008.

Offerdahl is well known throughout the Southeastern United States as an accomplished impressionist painter. In her work, she explores locales throughout Mexico and Europe, particularly the rural countryside of the Dordogne region and Brantome, France; as well as the Southeastern United States.

Offerdahl expressed a love for the visual arts as a youth; childhood lessons were followed up by an eclectic mix of formal arts training at Cornell College, the School of the Chicago Art Institute and instruction at the Traphagan School of Fashion Design. Eager to hone her craft, Ada has continued her studies, working privately with nationally recognized artists such as Connie Winters and Andy Braitman.

Offerdahl's landscapes serve as visual documentation of places and moments in time that have personal meaning for her, as an artist and an individual. Offerdahl views her commitment and acknowledgment of her paintings as extensions of herself as paramount in the creation of meaningful compositions that reach out and engage the observer.

The show will also feature examples of Offerdahl's portraiture paintings. Working primarily from informal snapshots, she successfully captures the personality and mannerisms of her subjects in a variety of media including charcoal, pastel, and oil. She is now accepting commissions for portraiture through Providence Gallery.
