Charleston County Public Library in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Joanna Biondolillo

Charleston County Public Library in Charleston, SC, will present the exhibit, Just Images: Trios from Various Collections, featuring photographs by Joanna Biondolillo, on view in the Saul Alexander Gallery from Mar. 1 - 31, 2009.

In 1989, Biondolillo was given a Minolta 370X for Christmas, a most unlikely Christmas gift, by a friend who had seen her art work. Until then, she had dabbled in textiles, weaving and some drawing. "I didn't know it then, but that gift would change the course of my life." Back then, film was all there was. Photographs were still developed in the darkroom, and photographers were taught that their job was to document the reality in front of them.

Biondolillo spent several years in Austin, TX, shooting portfolio work for women. She moved several times, finally landing in Charleston where she developed a keen interest in travel and tourism and started her own company, Image Merchants. "The landscape of the south is elegant, the city of Charleston, enchanting. You could be here for two lifetimes and never document it all!"
Image Merchants combines Biondolillo's images of the south and the southwest with fun and exquisite products that create the ultimate in imaging gifts.
