Elder Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Offers Exhibit on Human Form

Elder Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present the exhibit, Body Beautiful, featuring paintings and drawings that depict the human figure, including works by Jung Han Kim, Leon A. Makielski, Philip Mullen, Gage Opdenbrouw, Carl Plansky, Franklin Sinanan, and Hodges Soileau. The exhibit will be on view from Mar. 6 - 31, 2009, and styles range from realistic portraiture to abstract expressionism to impressionistic to graffiti art.

"Man's fascination with the human body has been documented through drawings and paintings which date back to prehistoric time," says Elder Gallery owner, Larry Elder. "Our exhibition will feature paintings from the Leon Makielski Collection which were completed during the 1930s and 1940s as well as recent work from other artists represented by the gallery."
