Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Offers Works by Connie Winters and Darren Young

Shain Gallery of Charlotte, NC, will present an exhibit of new works by Connie Winters and Darren Young, on view from Mar. 27 through Apr. 30, 2009.

New works by Connie Winters are expressive, exuberant works of impressionism, historically the most popular style of painting, and rarely so well done and with such sophistication. Shain Gallery is proud to be representing the work of this fine artist for the 11th year.

Winters' credits her annual trips to the  gorgeous countrysides of France and Italy with giving her a renewed sense of spirituality and the desire to convey those images in all their layers of being resulting in canvases with a wonderful sense of color and movement and loads of emotional content.

Winters formal art instruction included studies with NC Pulitzer Prize winner, Phillip Moose, Shirley Markham, Alice Steadman and with the renowned Chatov School in Atlanta and Alice Williams. She is an OPA member and her work has earned her national recognition and is found in numerous prominent collections including the Coca Cola Collection, John Randolph Hearst, Jr. and the Duke Mansion, Charlotte, NC.

Gallery owner Gabrielle Shain describes emerging artist Darren Young's work as gaining in popularity so quickly that his prices are sure to soar - so now is the time to collect his work. "Everyone that comes through the door seems to gravitate towards his work," says Shain. Young's exposure to art as a child was complete - since his mother is prominent fine artist Connie Winters. His natural inclination is backed up by a serious education with a Fine Arts Masters Degree in painting from Indiana University, Bloomington - one of the nation's most prominent art institutions and additional studies with Wolf Kahn, Janet Fish, David Humphries, and Ed Smith.

Shain Gallery, located in the heart of Myers Park in Charlotte has been on the forefront of the Charlotte art scene since opening their doors in 1998. The gallery represents many regional and national artists.
